What is GPQ?
GPQ stands for “Guidelines for Production and Quality“, a term valid in the garment manufacturing industry. A GPQ auditor plays a major role in quality control and inspection in the garment industry. GPQ Auditor is fully involved in final quality inspection room activities including buying house QC. GPQ job role is actually working as a helping hand of buying house QC. GPQ is also considered as the buyer’s representative in the garment industry and works to maintain quality products for the buyer. GPQ has the ability to inspect products from any department or any stage of garment production. GPQ job titles are GPQ, Senior GPQ, GPQ Incharge, GPQ Manager. GPQ maintains and ensures an excellent business support relationship with factory management as well as buying house QC. Hence the working role of GPQ is an important factor for apparel industry. A GPQ is capable of handling all quality control activities in the garment industry, most of the time in the QC inspection room.
GPQ Job Introduction in Garment Industry
1. Conduct in-line inspection and assist buyer representative in final factory inspection.
2. Conduct and conduct all PP meetings and pilot run meetings
3. Implement and follow customer requirements in each department
4. In-line inspection of each lot in sewing and finishing department.
5. Check and confirm pattern size and confirm it for bulk production as per buyer’s instructions.
6. Liaise with fabric department regarding fabric quality and assist fabric QA to ensure online quality control of fabric
7. Approve fabric and all accessories for final bulk production.
8. Correct the sewing errors and ensure the correct shape and design of the product as per the client’s requirement.
9. Checking all accessories in house for bulk production.
10. Check the garment fitting as per buyer’s measurement chart.
11. Checking and matching accessories like sewing threads, buttons, care labels, size labels, main labels, photo board polybags etc. against a trim card as per customer requirements.
12. Maintain all tasks and reports of buying house QC, act on behalf of buying house QC.
13. GPQ do PP meeting, pilot run meeting, sewing inline, finishing inline, final inspection as substitute or support of buyer QC.
14. GPQ check garment products using all quality criteria, complete all QC inspection checklists.
15. In the absence of Buyer QC, GPQ bears exclusive authority over any quality issues by Buyer QC Hence a GPQ is a good decision maker on any quality parameter in the garment industry.

GPQ Jobs in Garment Industry
Fresh resume/ CV is not accepting for GPQ jobs, must have experience in quality control, sewing quality control experience is preferred but QC completion can also join GPQ team. In Bangladesh’s garment sector, job titles range from GPQ Auditor to GPQ Manager. A career as a GPQ worker is not bad for those involved in the garment QC team.
